We are here to assist you in your college scholarship search by posting scholarships that we receive or are informed of. Please check the website at least weekly as information changes often and new scholarships are listed. Students need to review applications carefully for instructions, deadlines, and other requirements. Please allow yourself enough time to write essays, gather letters of recommendations or other verifications if needed. Access to the scholarship is listed in the description (i.e. is it a hard copy or an electronic application).

Alworth Memorial Fund Scholarship                  Deadline:  January 15, 2014
$20,000 scholarship.  To be eligible, applicant must be a United States Citizen, be graduating from a high school in one of the following Minnesota counties: Aitkin, Beltrami, Carlton, Cass, Cook, Crow Wing, Lake, Itasca, Koochiching, and St. Louis, have a composite score of 26 or higher on the ACT, be graduating in the top 20% of their class, have shown promise and commit to a major in an approved mathematics or science field of study, have demonstrated qualities of character, perserverance and ambition and be from a family whose taxable income is less than $120,000.  Students awarded scholarships in 2014 will receive $20,000 to be distributed over eight semesters ($2,500 oer semester) as long as the following criteria are met: enrolled as a full-time student, major in an approved mathematics or science field of study and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.85 as a freshman and a 3.0 for subsequent years.  Applications must be submitted electronically.  Before submitting your application, be sure that it has been proofread by a teacher, counselor or parent.  For more information and to apply, please visit: www.alworthscholarship.org

American Legion Auxiliary - Pequot Lakes                  Deadline:  April 11, 2014
There will be (2) $500 scholarships awarded for the year 2013-14.  (1) $500 scholarship will be awarded to a full time student who will attend a four year college or university and (1) $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student who will attend a vocational or business school.  There is also the possibility that (1) $1000 scholarship may be awarded to a Pequot Lakes student who will be attending school in a health care field.  Criteria and applications are available here.  Completed applications must be submitted directly to: Auxiliary Scholarship Committee; Ben Krueger American Legion Auxiliary Unit #49; PO Box 463; Pequot Lakes, MN 56472 on or before April 11, 2014

Annie Lynde Memorial Scholarship                  Deadline:  March 28, 2014
The Annie Lynde Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established by the Lynde family in memory of Andrea "Annie" Lynde, a student at Pequot Lakes High School at the time of her death in December 1999.  The goal of the memorial fund is to provide financial assistance to Pequot Lakes High School seniors who are pursuing futher education.  There are two $2,500 scholarships awarded, one to a student attending a two year community or technical college and the other to a student attending a University of Minnesota campus.  Criteria and applications are available here.  Completed applications should be turned into the Guidance Office no later than March 28, 2014

Brainerd Masonic Lodge Scholarship                  Deadline:  March 31, 2014
$600 scholarship available to a graduating senior.  No specific scholarship criteria.  Completed applications should be turned into the Guidance Office no later than March 31, 2014.

CLC Liberal Arts & Science Scholarship     Deadline:  March 4, 2014                                 $1,400 scholarship available to any presently enrolled senior of a high school in the Brainerd area who plans to pursue a general course of study at CLC designed for a Liberal Arts & Science Degree for transfer to a four year college.  Completed applications should be sent to: James Van Duyn, Brainerd Elks Lodge Scholarship Committee, 11615 Pepperidge Road, Brainerd, MN 56401

Crossing Arts Alliance       Deadline:  April 4, 2014

Crosslake Art Club/Jim Stevenson Memorial       Deadline:  April 1, 2014
This scholarship is being offered to qualifying students in recognition of their artistic efforts and intent to pursue a career in the visual arts.  The applicant must be a graduating senior at Pequot Lakes High School.  A 4-6 piece portfolio is required and should be turned into Mr. Guenther by April 1, 2014 with your application.

Crosslake Firefighter's (Tom Mezzenga Memorial) Scholarship       Deadline:  March 31, 2014
The Crosslake Firefighter's Relief Association Scholarship Fund has been established by the members of the Crosslake Fire Department in memory of Tom Mezzenga.  The goal of the memorial fund is to provide financial assistance to Pequot Lakes High School Seniors who plan to attend a four year college or university or two year community or technical college. Crosslake-Fifty Lakes American Legion Auxiliary       Deadline:  March 15, 2014
The Crosslake-Fifty Lakes American Legion Auxiliary is pleased to offer (4) $500 scholarships to graduating seniors.  No specific application criteria.  Completed application should be sent to: Cathy Rickard, 32352 Adney Lake Road, Crosby, MN 56441.

Crosslake Game & Fish Scholarship       Deadline:  March 14, 2014
The Crosslake Game & Fish is pleased to offer (4) $500 scholarships to graduating seniors enrolling in a technical, two or four year college.  No specific application criteria.  However, students applying should be worthy candidates.  This may include being a successful student, having participated in school and community activities, and maintaining a positive attitude in working with peers and adults.  Completed application should be turned into the Guidance Office.

Crosslake/Ideal Scholarship Fund       Deadline:  April 1, 2014
The Crosslake/Ideal Scholarship Fund annually awards several scholarships to Crosslake, Ideal and Mission Township students graduating from Pequot Lakes or Pine River-Backus High Schools.  Recipients will be be determined by the applicant's need for financial assistance as well as: academic accomplishments, involvement in school and community activites, determination to succeed in one's chose field and his/her characteristics and attitudes that demonstrate leadership and good sound citizenship.  Complete and return the application to: Crosslake/Ideal Scholarship Fund, P.O. Crow Wing Power Essay                  Deadline:  March 31, 2014
Crow Wing Power is offering scholarships to high school seniors that are continuing their education after graduation.  Applicant must be a member of Crow Wing Power (immediate family receives electricity from Crow Wing Power).  Applicant will need a letter of recommendation from counselor, teacher, coach or caring adult along along with a short essay demonstrating how this scholarship and further education will help you succeed and include your short and long-term goals.  Completed essays and letters of recommendations may be turned into the Guidance Office.

Crow Wing Power Random Drawing          Deadline: March 31, 2014
Apply online for one of three $1,000 scholarships to be given away in April.  It's a RANDOM drawing!  The only qualification is that you have to be a member of Crow Wing Power (immediate family receives electricity from Crow Wing Power).  Go to www.cwpower.com and click on College Scholarships.  One entry per person.

CTC Scholarship          Deadline: March 31, 2014
Consolidated Telecommunications Company is offering a scholarship to a graduating high school senior who plans to attend a two-year or four-year college, university or vocational technical school.  The student's family or legal guardian must be a Consolidated Telecommunications Company year-round and good standing member in the CTC's service area. Dru Sjodin Memorial Scholarship          Deadline: March 25, 2014
The Dru Sjodin Memorial Scholarship has been established by the family of Dru Sjodin in memory of Dru, who was a 2000 graduate of Pequot Lakes High School.  This $5000 scholarship is for a graduating senior at Pequot Lakes High School who plans to continue their education at a post-secondary college or university.  Preference may be given to a student who intends to enter a visual arts field of study (including photography, drawing, painting, etc.), music or graphic design.  Other criteria that will be considered are: involvement in school and community activities, minimum 3.0 GPA, personal qualities of a caring, friendly, and positive individual and volunteer service.  Completed applications should be turned into the Guidance Office.

Golden Horizons Assisted Living of Crosslake          Deadline: April 16, 2014
Golden Horizons Assisted Living of Crosslake will be offering a $250 scholarship to any student interested in pursuing a degree in the healthcare field.  Applications and a letter of recommendation from a teacher should be sent to: Golden Horizons Assisted of Crosslake, Chuck Lane, 13631 East Shore Road, Crosslake, MN 56442.

Heartland Cable Commission          Deadline: April 15, 2014
The Heartland Cable Commission will be offering four (4) scholarships in the amount fo $1,500 each to eligible high school and non-traditional students planning on attending post-secondary or trade school.  These funds will be awarded through an open and fair selection process.  There are no restrictions based on race, gender, religion, national origin, marital status, disability, or age.  Applicant must be a high school senior or a non-traditional student enrolled in an accredited post-secondary school or trade school.  Applicant must have a GPA of 2.750 or higher.  Applicant must live in the Heartland Cable Commission service area (Pelican & Jenkins Townships or the Cities of Breezy Point, Jenkins or Pequot Lakes).  Application and transcript must be submitted to the Guidance Office no later than April 15th at 4:00 pm

Ideal Scholarship Foundation          Deadline: April 15, 2014
Scholarships available to graduating seniors, who with their family resides in the Township of Ideal.  Scholarships available for college, university, vocational, business or specialty school.  Scholarships will be paid upon the successful completion of a grading period of post secondary school.  Scholarship information is available here.  Completed applications must be received by the Foundation's Chairman no later than April 15, 2014.  No other paperwork (transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.) is needed to be sent other than the completed application.  Personal interviews will be conducted on Tuesday, April 29, 2014.  These interviews are mandatory.

Jed Fyle/St. Alice Memorial Scholarahip          Deadline: April 17, 2014

Joey Jordan Memorial Scholarship          Deadline: April 25, 2014
The Joey Jordan Memorial Scholarship program has been established by the Jordan family in memory of Joey Jordan, who was a member of the class of 2006.  There will be one $500 scholarship awarded to a member of the Pequot Lakes football team.  Completed applications should be turned into the Guidance Office.

KC Companies Construction of Pequot Lakes          Deadline: April 16, 2014
KC Companies Construction of Pequot Lakes will be offering a $250 scholarship to any student who demonstrates great academics and athletic abilities.  There is no specific criteria for this scholarship program.  Any graduating senior may apply.  However, students applying should be a worthy candidate who demonstrates great academics and athletic abilities. This may include being a successful student, having participated in school and community activities, and maintaining a positive attitude in working with peers and adults.  Applications and a letter of recommendation from a teacher should be sent to: KC Companies, Inc., Builders and Developers, Chuck Lane, 31079 Front Street, PO Box 379, Pequot Lakes, MN 56472.

Kia Nagel Holbeck Memorial Scholarship          Deadline: March 5, 2014
In memory of Kia Nagel Holbeck, a 1990 graduate of Pequot Lakes High School, who went on to become a teacher of art at St. Peter (Minnesota) High School, a $1,000 scholarship is being offered to a student who intends to major or minor in the studies of art or music, or secondarily, a student who intends to enter the field of education.  To apply, you must be a graduating senior at Pequot Lakes High School who intends to pursue a post-secondary course of study at a college, university or vocational-technical school.  Completed applications should be turned into the Guidance Office.

Lueck-Leach Memorial Scholarship          Deadline: April 11, 2014
(2) $500 schparships will be given to the Class of 2014.  Open to all seniors.  Preference may be given to students who enjoy the outdoors, participate in sports, or are planning to enter a mental health field of study or the military.  Students should have at least a "B" grade point average.  Completed applications should be turned into the Guidance Office.

Mid Minnesota Builders Association          Deadline: April 14, 2014
Mid Minnesota Builders Association will be awarding up to $3,000 in scholarships to qualifying individuals.  Open to MMBA members, employee of a MMBA member and/or child of a MMBA member.  For a complete list of current MMBA members, visit the MMBA website: www.midmnba.org  Scholarship winners are determined by the following criteria: combined basis of need and merit and planning on continuing his/her education at any accredited post-secondary or technical institution.  Applications are due to the MMBA office by Monday, April 14, 2014 at 3:00 pm.

Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union Scholarship          Deadline: April 17, 2014
$500 scholarship available to a graduating high school senior.  Selection criteria includes GPA, participation in school and community activities, personal characteristics and financial need.  Completed application should be turned into the Guidance Office.

Miss Pequot Lakes Scholarship Pageant          Deadline: March 7, 2014
The Miss Pequot Lakes Scholarship Pageant will be held on April 11th at 7pm. in the Pequot Lakes High School Auditorium.  The scholarship pageant is open to all female junior and senior students of the Pequot Lakes School District including home-schooled students.  The students must be in good standing and meeting their school requirements. Applications may be picked up in the Guidance Office at Pequot Lakes High School and are due back no later than March 7th.  Scholarship amounts will be determined once fundraising is complete.  The Pageant will remain similar to years past. It will include evening gown competition, talent, interview, onstage question, and congeniality.

Nisswa American Legion Auxiliary         Deadline: March 31, 2014
A scholarship is available to a graduating high school senior from Pequot Lakes or Brainerd High School or any graduating high school senior who is an Auxiliary member or relative of an American Legion or Auxiliary member in good standing with continuous membership for the past (3) years in Unit #627.  Above average scholarship achievement is not a factor in receiving the scholarship.  Although need is not an overriding factor, it will be taken into consideration when reviewing the applications.  Completed applications should be sent to: Nisswa American Legion Auxiliary, Billie Brown Post #627, PO Box 427, Nisswa, MN 56468.

Nisswa American Legion Auxiliary (Nursing Scholarship)    Deadline: March 31, 2014
A scholarship is available to a graduating high school senior from Pequot Lakes or Brainerd High School or any graduating high school senior who is an Auxiliary member or relative of an American Legion or Auxiliary member in good standing with continuous membership for the past (3) years in Unit #627.  Above average scholarship achievement is not a factor in receiving the scholarship.  Although need is not an overriding factor, it will be taken into consideration when reviewing the applications.  Completed applications should be sent to: Nisswa American Legion Auxiliary, Billie Brown Post #627, PO Box 427, Nisswa, MN 56468.

Nisswa Elementary School PTO Scholarship          Deadline: March 28, 2014
$500 scholarship available to a graduating high school senior who attended Nisswa Elementary School in 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades.  Applicant must have a GPA of at least 3.0 and must attend a post-secondary education institution in 2014-15, and retain a GPA of at least 2.75 during his/her first semester or scholarship will be forfeited.  Completed application should be turned into the Guidance Office.

Nisswa Lions Club           Deadline: March 4, 2014
(10) $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from Pequot Lakes or Brainerd High School.  A minimum GPA of 3.25 for college/university entrance or 2.5 for vocational/technical school entrance is required.  Applicant must be available for a personal interview.  Completed application should be mailed to: Tom Beaver, Nisswa Lions Club, 26834 Pine Acres Road, Nisswa, MN 56468.

Nisswa Women's Club           Deadline: March 21, 2014
(3) $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from Pequot Lakes or Brainerd High School.  High School seniors with a 3.2 minimum GPA who plan to attend an accredited post-secondary school are eligible to apply if they: (1) live within the boundaries of the Brainerd or Pequot Lakes High School District and attend either high school for a minimum of 3 years and (2) are graduating from either Brainerd or Pequot Lakes High School.  Completed application should be turned into the Guidance Office.  See application details here.

Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association           Deadline: April 30, 2014
The Linda Ulland Memorial Scholarship has been established by the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association (PBSBA) and is offered each year to graduates of the Byway route's school districts of Pequot Lakes and Pine River-Backus.  One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded each year.  This scholarship has been set up to honor an individual who has set a Paul Bunyan sized standard in community service and volunteerism.  Complete selection criteria and application are available here.  PLEASE NOTE:  The application states that the deadline is April 15th of the current year.  They have extended this deadline to April 30, 2014 as this was posted so late.

Pelican Lakes Conservation Club Scholarship          Deadline: March 15, 2014
The Pelican Lakes Conservation Club will be offering scholarships in the amount of $1,000.  Applicants must be a graduating high school senior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Applicant must be entering a career in conservation, environmental control, or a related field (as determined by the PLCC Scholarship Committee).  Complete details and application are available here.  Completed applications should be turned into the Guidance Office.

Pequot Lakes Brush Pilots/Bill Buss Memorial          Deadline: April 1, 2014
The Pequot Lakes Brush Pilots will be offering two scholarships.  The applicant must be a graduating senior and a resident of Pequot Lakes School District.  Completed applications should be returned to Mr. Guenther by April 1, 2014.

Pequot Lakes Educators Scholarship          Deadline: April 4, 2014
(2) $1000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors by the Pequot Lakes chapter of the teachers' union Education Minnesota.  There are no restrictions on the type of educational institutions a student may attend.  Candidates for these scholarships shall be graduating high school seniors of Pequot Lakes High School.  Applicants must have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.2.  Completed applications should be turned into the Guidance Office along with a high school transcript and a character reference letter from an adult in the community (not employed by the school).

Pequot Lakes Fire Dept - Ronald H. Myers Scholarship          Deadline: May 2, 2014
There will be one $500 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior from Pequot Lakes High School who plans to attend a vocational/technical school.  Completed applications should be turned into the Guidance Office.

Pequot Lakes Senior Citizen Scholarship          Deadline: April 1, 2014
The Pequot Lakes Senior Citizen Organization is presenting (1) $500 scholarship to a graduate of Pequot Lakes High School.  To be eligible applicants must be pursuing post secondary training in nursing or a health care related field from a college or vocational school.  Materials submitted must be the application form and a letter of 200 words or less stating why you wish to work in the health care field.  Completed applications should be turned into the Guidance Office.

Pequot Lakes Super America Scholarship          Deadline: March 25, 2014
The Pequot Lakes Super America is presenting (1) $500 scholarship to a graduate of Pequot Lakes High School.  Applicants must be entering a business related field of study at a two or four year post-secondary institution in Minnesota.  The applicant must have completed some business courses while in high school and demonstrate an interest in the field of business.  Please attach a copy of your high school transcript to the application.  Completed applications should be turned into the Guidance Office.
  

Pequot Tool & Manufacturing          Deadline: April 25, 2014
Pequot Tool & Manufacturing is pleased to sponsor (2) $750 scholarships to graduating seniors who plan to continue their education in Advanced Manufacturing & related programs of study.  Examples of study that would qualify are: machine tool technology & manufacturing, manufacturing related engineering fields, manufacturing related drafting & design fields, industrial technology or quality control for manufacturing environments or industrial safety management.  Scholarship applicants must have at least a "C" grade average and submit a school transcript along with the attached application and be pursuing one of the fields of interest listed.  Completed application is due to Pequot Tool & Manufacturing by April 25, 2014.

Roger Loveland Memorial Scholarship          Deadline: April 2, 2014

Schrupp Excavating Scholarship          Deadline: May 1, 2014
A $750 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior who plans to pursue a career in Heavy Equipment Operations or Heavy Equipment Mechanics.  Please fill out the application and attach a short essay telling us about yourself, your activities as a student and your future goals and plans to attend college.  Completed application and essay should be turned into the Guidance Office.

Whitefish Area Lions          Deadline: April 13, 2014

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program          Deadline:  June 14, 2014
Abbott and Fenner are committed to continuing their efforts at helping those who have the desire and ambition to succeed. They will be awarding up to $1,000 to the winner(s) each year.  Available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution.  Students will submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of their website.  Full details are available here.

AgStar Fund for Rural America          Deadline:  April 1, 2014
To help ensure a strong future for Agriculture - a primary goal of the AgStar Fundfor Rural America - we will award twenty-five $1000 scholarships to high school seniors every May.  Applicants must be a graduating high school senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better.  Designated or major of interest in an ag-related field, or have an ag or rural background. Alpha Kappa Psi Scholarship Fund          Deadline:  January 31, 2014
Scholarships of up to $18,000 will be awarded to students who attend the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota in 2014.  The application requirements are available online at www.akpsischolarships.com/apply along with additional information about the scholarships, the Alpha Kapp Psi fraternity, and the Alpha Kappa Psi Scholarship Fund.

American Legion Auxiliary - Children of Warriors National President's Scholarship  Deadline:  March 1, 2014
Fifteen scholarships will be awarded for the 2013-14 Auxiliary year.  Candidates for this award shall be daughters, stepdaughters, sons, stepsons, grandsons, step-grandsons, granddaughters, step-granddaughters, great-granddaughters, step-great-granddaughters, great-grandsons, step-great-grandsons of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in The American Legion.  Applicants must be in their senior year of high school.  Complete details, eligibility requirements and application are available here.

American Legion Auxiliary - Dept of MN Scholarship     Deadline:  March 15, 2014
Department scholarships in the amount of $1,000 are awarded to deserving sons or daughters, grandsons or granddaughters of a veteran who are in need of financial assistance to avail themselves of higher education at the post-secondary level.  Complete details, eligibility requirements and application are available here.

American Legion Memorial Scholarship     Deadline:  April 1, 2014
The purpose of this scholarship, sponsored by The American Legion, Department of Minnesota, is to provide financial assistance to students to further their education in any Minnesota University, College, Vocational School, or other accredited institution of higher education, or in states with Minnesota reciprocity.  All applicants must stem from a Minnesota American Legion Post.  Complete details, eligibility requirements and application are available here.

Recipients of this year’s scholarship will have the opportunity to examine social responsibility in the new global economy at our 2014 Glodal Student Leaders Summit in China.  Students will spend a week exploring China’s ancient wonders, while also learning about the country’s growth and development and how its leaders are supporting this economic change. A scholarship in the amount of $3,000 per year, renewable for four consecutive years which totals $12,000, and is made available to high school senior girls residing in Minnesota and planning to enroll in a four year college program the year the application is submitted.  The applicant must have a GPA of 3.2 or above, and a copy of the submitted FAFSA form must be included showing the parents income level for the past year.  The scholarship is awarded on the basis of scholastic rating, financial need, and school achievements, leadership, and activities.  Although skill or excellence in the game of golf is not a criterion, candidates shall demonstrate an involvement in the sport.  Additional information and application are available here.

Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship          Deadline: March 1, 2014
The Brainerd Area Zonta Club invites all qualified high school women to apply for the Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship.  The goal of the Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Program is to encourage more young women to participate in public and political life by recognizing a commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and dedication to the advancement of the status of women.  Applicants are asked to reflect on their voluntary commitment to their school and to their community and the problems limiting the advancement of the status of women in their own country and worldwide.  Our local Zonta Club will review local applications and make a recommendation to our district.  District winners receive $1,000.  The International YWPA Subcommittee selects five international recipients from the district applications, each of whom receive a $4,000 scholarship.  Download the application here.  Completed applications should be sent to:  Ginny Knudson, Zonta Club of Brainerd, P.O.
